Generally speaking, it is my opinion that any 'contest' that wants you to buy anything is quite likely a scam. Legitimate contests often carry an entry fee, which can be large or small depending on who is hosting the contest, but they do not usually sell things to the entrants. There are plenty of legitimate contests out there so I would give these guys a pass and look for something else.

It is my experience that photo contests are almost always a scam! I have seen many where the fine print says that they own the copyright of your photo, etc. Usually it is just a cheap way for someone to get good stock photos. Stay away is my $.02, I would never ever consider a photo contest.

Well I can say this, I enter photography contest all the time. I never enter the ones that I have to pay to enter as money is an object in our household. :) There are lots of scams out there so you have to read the small print but there are also lots of legit ones to. I just recently won my first photo contest at shutterfly.com. 1st place I might ad. :)

I won a 12 x 12 memory book, and a $50.00 gift certificate with them. And it was free.

They have contests going on all the time. Right now they have one called <a href="http://photocontest.shutterfly.com/action/photocontest/viewContest"> Special Bonds & My Funny Valentine</a>

Check <a href="http://waterfallhunter.blogspot.com/">my website</a> out for other free contest. Mostly I would say use your common sense.

Good Luck
