Phantom Thread

msg_id=00677V">OP Scam</a> thread appears in the unified view for

now, but not in the assigned <a

href="http://www.photo.net/bboard/forum?topic_id=34">Nature

Forum</a>. If it helps your diagnosis, I originally submitted it to

the archived general/pn forum, but I got emails indicating that the

moderator(s) moved it to the un-archived forum, then elsewhere

(unstated in the email, but the thread shows "Nature Photography").

Out of curiosity, I peeked in a couple of the other forums and

archive categories, but I couldn't find the thread.

It's back now!

I looked in the Unified Forum and found it had a 2 day expiration on it, so I removed that.

When threads are promoted out of the non-archived forum I think they are supposed to lose their expiration, i.e. the normal 2 day expiration of the non-archived forum is supposed to be dropped. In this case it wasn't.

However I'm not sure why the Unified forum would ignore the 2 day expiration but the Nature forum would honor it.

Clearly something a little odd is happening to promoted threads. This isn't the first time this has happened.

One problem is that threads submitted to the archived froum can't be zapped to another forum. They have first to be sent to either the non-archived or the archived forum THEN transferred from there. Looks like the safest route is via the archived forum.

I'm sure Brian is busy and this isn't an urgent issue, but maybe he can put it on his list of things to look at "one of these days".
