royall_berndt
I have film in my EOS 620, set for frame 1. But now the camera needs service. How can I rewind/get the film out without losing the leader? Can I put it in a changing bag and simply open the back?
Ken Katz
Apparently here is your answer (found in about 20 seconds): https://www.photo.net/discuss/threads/canon-eos-620-film-leader-out-modification.5523575/ "Can I put it in a changing bag and simply open the back?" That's what I would do (if I still shot film).
John Seaman
Anyone using 35mm film would do well to invest in a film leader retriever (AKA film picker). I use mine quite a lot with cameras which fully wind the film including the leader back into the cassette. Some cameras can be set to leave the leader out via custom functions, but the 620 lacks this feature.
JDMvW
John Seaman is right. The little metal film retriever is cheap, if you can find one and very handy. One of the big NYC stores should still have some "new old stock". On the other hand, you can jury-rig something with simple things found round the camera cupboard.
