raymond_tai
I am interested in the 35mm panoramic attachment for my Mamiya 7 and would like some comments from people who have used it. Normally I would just crop the 6x7 neg to get the right dimension but there are several films including TMZ that are unavailable in 120.
ravi_kappel
I got the panoramic attachment for my Mamiya 6 earlier this year. I've shot some 10-15 rolls with it. I like it for many reasons: Why waste a 120 film when I know I'm gonna crop it anyway? (that happens sometimes). The 35mm panoramic shots are cheaper. You mentioned the possibility to use special films. Are there any films with higher iso than 400 available in 120? I don't think so. Kodak's b&w infrared film is not available in 120 either. Getting 20 shots on each roll, instead of 12 can be useful sometimes. Of course that can also be achieved by using 220 film.
The panoramic attachment is easy to handle. It can be inserted or removed within a minute.
If you go out with your camera and have the panoramic attachment mounted, don't forget to bring a 120 film spool in case you want to switch back to 120 film. I did that once, very annoying. Make it a habit to always have an extra film spool in your camera bag.
