panorama mode C-2040

I have modest experience with a C-2040. In preparing for panorama mode

use I learned that my SmartMedia card must be Olympus brand. I have 2

cards, one 8Mb and one 64 Mb. Both are labeled Olympus.

The 8Mb card will allow setup for panorama, but with the 64 Mb card in

place the menu cursor just skips over the panorama option, as if the

card were non-Olympus or otherwise unsuitable. Is there another

reason why panorama access might be denied? Maybe my card is Brand X

with an Olympus label?
