P&S cameras that have blinkies in full-screen view?

Recommended Posts

For large-format photography I find that checking the blown-highlight view (blinkies) on an SLR can be helpful in determining exposure especially with chromes. Tired of shlepping an SLR around just as a meter, I'm looking for a P&S that can set/display aperture/shutterspeed AND can display blinkies in full-screen mode, not just in partial/histogram mode. Is there such a camera?

I just tried this with the Panasonic LX3, and it blinks when the picture is in full-screen mode. You can optionally toggle to showing the histogram as an insert (while still showing the full-screen photo) and that shows the blinkies, as well. They show up both immediately after taking the photo as well as during playback.

I'm really happy with the LX3.

You mean like this: zebra for blown highlights and separate per channel histogram?

Note that this is on a live view. The result of aperture and exposure adjustments show up right away, without need to actually trip the shutter.

As always, go pick up a Canon P&S supported by CHDK .

I'll tell ya, I've this loaded on a Canon A720 compact. In addition, a little script lets me toggle the zoom to the same field of view I use with my RB-67. This combination makes for a wonderful, accurate and very quick to use light meter.
