chris_eve
Tried the "Classic Cameras" forum with this request, but no takers, so ... I've just aquired an LTM Orion 15 (cheaply) which is fine in every way except for an intermittent sticking of the focus thread. My guess is there's a small bit of grit or similar in there which needs removing. I can usually figure out how to strip and rebuild a basic lens without too much trouble, but this one's got me stuck. There's three grub screws on the periphery of the front of the lens, which I've removed, but nothing want's to move/unscrew after that. I'm guessing the thread is stuck/frozen (the lens body is aluminium) ... what I need to be sure of, before forcing something the wrong way, is whether or not the focus ring should now unscrew from the body, and if so clockwise or CCW (left or right-hand thread) ... or if not, what else needs to come off. huw_finney
The last time I (tried) to dismantle a Russian lens I found out the front and back halves where thread locked together. This might be the same, get it to 80C or so and try to unscrew the back and front, or dribble thin oil on the focussing helix.
skip_williams
Ask on the Yahoogroups Camera-Fix or Russain-Cameras forum. SOmeone over there has likely torn one apart sometime. Skip
