mpd
I am a new user of Lightroom 3. All of my images are displayed in a slide bar across the bottom of the screen. After selecting an image, I can right click on it and select Edit in Photoshop. I would prefer to have the image edited in Photoshop when i double click on that thumbnail. Is there a was to change the default behavior of LR so that when I double click on the thumbnail that the image is opened in Photoshop?
thanks,
pat
howard_m
not directly although you can probably fuss around w/ keyboard remapper and the like.

Lightroom is it's own editing environment so the thing it wants to do double-click and go into the Develop module. The bigger question I have is why you want to edit everything in PS if you have LR. What most people have found is that the majority of work can be done in LR w/o ever going into PS. I think it would really behoove you to spend some time in the Develop module vs. jumping to PS.

ellis_vener_photography
The Develop module of Lightroom 3 is theAdobe Camera Raw 6.3 - -as used in Photoshop CS5 -- just a more user friendly interface.
If you want to go directly to Photoshop from Lr it is easy: just export the image. Coomand+Shift + E on a Mac.

herma
Instead of starting a new post, I have a similar question. I just installed CS5, but when I want to send my image from LR to the new CS5, via: PHOTO<EDIT IN<CS4 still shows in the dialogue box. How do I get LR to recognize there is a new CS version on my computer? I did this once before when I went from CS3 to CS4, but I cant remember how it works.
howard_m
this might help...
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401629.html

although it does indicate that if PS is open when you're in LR, it'll send the image to the open PS.

Perhaps another method might be to un/reinstall LR now that CS5 is installed.

I do find it interesting that the PC 'fix' is 17 steps and the Mac fix is 4 :)
herma
All it took was to reboot my computer... install updates.... and voila... should have thought of that earlier.
