mukul_dube
Cullmann and Metz make small ones with auto apertures. Sunpak and Vivitar are among the other makers of larger ones.
zweeko
i have a bunch of vintage sunpak gx14 flashguns; they can be bought for £1-£5; this is what they look like: http://www.cameramarket.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/345918-800x532.jpg - i use them with my olympus trip 35 cameras; example-results, like so: http://www.flickr.com/photos/j12t/4371074038/ and: http://www.flickr.com/photos/j12t/4371073136/ - i like the way they don't get in the way of the shutter release, like my little, old, centered, metz did. i feel they suit 1970s olympuses very well, in terms of aesthetics & proportions; plus they are super-reliable [all of mine work perfectly, even after 35-45 years!]; they charge quickly [2 seconds/fresh; 7 seconds/unfresh (batteries)], and give about 200-250 shots per pair of alkaline aa-batteries! make sure the flash-ready light works - it's no good having a unit that fires, but doesn't indicate when it's ready to do so! : B
starvy
I suppose it would take anything old with no voltage problems. For a small cheap current model flash try the Metz MC20. It has a built in flash meter too.
zweeko
ah: i just remembered! the 35rd utilises the Flashmatic system - this means that you'd have to get something with the same GN as one of the rd's settings; i think the lowest is 14. that sunpak gx14 only has a GN of 10 [surprising, considering its nomenclature!]; however, numerous other similar designs will have a GN that matches the rd's flashmatic scale.
eman_a
thanx for all the responses.
yes the 35rd has a GN of 14 which is the lowest, what does that mean and how does it determine which flash i buy? sorry for all the questions but i need these answers. :)

thanx in advance!
