steve_larese1
Hi all,

Just wanted to see if anyone knows if a 300TL can be safely used on a 5d Mark II. I understand it'll probably only work in manual if it does; I just don't want to short out anything.

Thanks :)

William Michael
No problem. . . his book is very good.
I refer to it often.
If you have Canon gear it is worth the few $ to buy it.
If you don't have canon gear it s worth it anyway, as the Flash Techniques are very sound and Creative, also.

WW

(I have no connection with Mr Guy or his business)
ed_avis2
You will have to use it in manual mode. The comments in 'Flash photography with Canon...' refer to using this flash with film bodies. On digital bodies you must use a newer E-TTL flash (model number ending in EX) or else go fully manual. Even medium-vintage flashes like the 540EZ, which is newer than your 300TL, do not offer automatic flash exposure on digital.

If the flash output can be controlled using buttons on the flash itself then you can do that. Otherwise, you will probably be limited to using it at full power.
