dominic_.
Recently I have had a problem with scanning artifacts with my HP scanjet 5530 whenever I try to scan a negative using the adapter for negatives and slides. When I scan a neg, I get these large, mountain shaped artifacts all over the final image. These artifacts are not present in the preview scan, nor are they present in scans from slides. I have tried scanning my b&w negs as slides and then removing the cast using PS7, yet they end up looking very flat and muddy. Has anybody else had a similar problem, any solutions? And BTW, I have contacted HP tech support several times, but it was not much help. Thanks, --Dominic<div></div>

mendel_leisk
Looks a lot like peeling paint. And stops abruptly at the out-of-focus foreground areas.
dominic_.
It happens whenever I scan anything as a negative, and they almost always appear in different areas.
