Hi all; every afternoon -under good weather, something difficult here- when the sun is touching the horizon, fishermans appear with their boxes, rods, also some food and beer. Looks like they highly enjoy their activity.

Taken with a D700 + 105VR, 14bit RAW, f5.6 - 1/250 sec. @ 200ISO. All camera tricks off... (but I`m thinking I will set the auto-ISO capability on my camera to avoid continuous ISO setting changes).

As usual, please feel free if you like to post your pic of the week taken with Nikon gear.

P.D. Last week thread was really great, photos and comments and usual, sadly I arrived late for the comments. Also, I want to welcome all newcomers. Thank you all.

00UC0g-164313584.jpg.6bccd12ee249e3e3c2ea603f8b6d842d.jpg

Good morning, José,
Hello everybody, and Happy Wednesday!

This week I had trouble deciding which image to post. I spent the weekend at our holiday house at the southern coastline of Norway, on the same spot where the Chinese freight vessel "Full City" run aground last week, causing one of the worst oil leakage catastrophies in Norway, and polluting the coast. Experts say it will take several years before the spill of heavy oil and diesel is cleaned up and the coast line restored. Thousands of sea birds have died or will die in the weeks to come of oil contamination, and even though many birds are rescued due to teams specialized in cleaning them, many have suffered an horrible death covered in oil, or have been shot to end their misery.

I could have showed you some images of the vessel or of the cleaning teams, but this is rather depressing, and also taken at too long a distance. The coast lines were sealed off by police tape and guarded by the Home Guard, and even though I know of many paths to evade the check points, I did not want to cause more problems, unwillingly stepping in the oil spills and further polluting.

Instead I have chosen to show you a more optimistic view of the future. This is my daughter and my energy generator. Her picture today conveys my hope of a better future, with more environmental concience throughout the world.

00UC0j-164315584.jpg.be035e106a74a06940ce6bad74106614.jpg

Good morning folks on this beautiful WedNEsDAy-morning! (It's actually raining in here, but this thread will make the day beautiful I bet! :) )

This week I had a problem I would like to have every week: I took too many good shots, it was hard to choose which one to post. :) The one I chose at the end has the most emotional significance to me, so after all I think it was a obvious choise, I just got too hooked with cold IQ evaluation and pixel peeping while looking through my photos. :) This one was taken in my good friend's wedding last weekend. I was not the official wedding photographer, but had my light D50/35mm combo with me anyway (never leave home without it), so I was free to point my camera to areas overlooked by others.

Great lines in your photo Jose between the fishing rods, sailboats, railing and shadows! Per-Christian, so sorry to hear about the oil spill in your area, but your pic of your daughter is wonderful and she's a beauty! As usual, Wednesday is off to a great start and look forward to seeing the rest of the photos today!

I finally was able to get a shot of a red Royal Poinciana bloom before it fully opened. (most of our local trees are more orange than red) It's been windy all week, so was less than thrilled with the "windiness" of the background. A better photographer could have dealt with it more effectively than I did, however I chose to post it anyway because the lighting was wonderful that morning and captured the vivid colors of this bloom.

Nikon D40 + 55-200mm VR, AP-f/6.3/ISO 200

Back from a week's holiday interstate.

This tree is part of a small pocket of remnant sub-tropical rain forest in South East Queensland, Australia. 97.5 % of this type of forest has been removed from the Queensland landscape, this particular tree grows in a pityful few hundred acre forest reserve.

I see some horrid irony in the way the tree's buttress anchors it firmly to the ground - a survival trait that has sufficed for millions of years - that is, until the evolution of mankind...........

00UC1Y-164331584.jpg.47610c7f3351ea46340f5e1abb32e342.jpg

Last week we had Santa Barbara's premier annual festival - Old Spanish Days Fiesta. The Fiesta Historical Parade on Friday is one of the largest equestrian parades in the United States. Shot this candid during the parade with the NikonD200, 80-200/2.8 AF-D at 200mm, f/5.6, 1/750s, ISO200.

00UC1c-164331684.jpg.3014a5b17e8081c8395a8b743bee3dc4.jpg

Good morning all
Another one from the archives. Taken last year at a workshop (during the lecture!) at the chairs in front of me.
Nikon F4, Series E 28 f/2.8 @ 2.8. Fuji Neopan 400. Shutter speed not recorded, but probably 1", handheld.
Scanned on cheap Epson V200 photo scanner and processed in LR2.

I look forward to seeing what today's photos have in store - and the standard is very high already (not that it has ever been low).

For my entry, these flowers being sprinkled by the spray system looked very 'summery' and refreshing to me. I used my FM3a and 180mm f2.8 Ai-S loaded with Kodacolor 200.

00UC1h-164333584.JPG.f8e61ebde6a223e91dbc5d2507cdce3b.JPG

Good morning everybody,

Such great photos in such a quick time! Just right for a brillantly blue summer day!

I haven't been around much, so here comes one from four weeks ago, which I eventually dug out of my folders somewhere and have properly treated. Taken with my D700 and 50/1.4 @ 2.0 and ISO 1600, this is a close crop, so I have the feeling it's a bit soft around the ears...

Per-Christian Nilssen, - Your portraiture skills are superb & your daughter, beautiful. I admire those like you who can photograph the human face so delightfully.

Ian Rance - I appreciate the "summery" appearance of your contribution, as a plant person your image sings to me too.......

Some great photos on display as ever... while I never contributed before, I always enjoy these threads on the wednesday, they just inspire to go out and enjoy photography!
Compliments to all who posted so far, if I'd have to list favourites, all would be included I guess, since each one has a very strong side worth of praise... So just a thanks and compliment for all who posted so far. And probably for a lot to come too!

So my first contribution to this weekly event... I recently moved and I'm slowly getting acquainted with my new surroundings.

@Jeannean & Dieter: Thank you for your kind words.
@Matthew: WOW! After reading your comment on my photo, I had to "take 5" at the office. I have never received such a positive comment on one of my images before. Thank you soooo much!
