It's a highlight of every week, and I'd like to thank everyone for a great 2010 worth of putting that Nikon gear to work and sharing the results. In the spirit of new year's resolutions, here's what's on the table, so to speak. In our kitchen, we're going for more produce. What's on your plate? Share a photo!
Hello...Found this guy shooting with a 600mm lens. I made good use of my Nikon camera and took pictures of hi Canon equipment.
Didn't shoot this week but I was able to save a drive which had some good shots. Chose this one because I was playing a Tourist. D300 with my trusty Sigma 18-50 f/2.8
Walkway at Rust Manor in Audubon Nature Preserve, Leesburg, VA. Nikon D3 ISO 2500 f2.8 with 24-70 at focal length of 24mm handheld at 1/13 second. Looking forward to another year of great images like those from the last year that forum members have shared.
Happy New Year everyone. Didn't have time for shooting this year so far - but managed to go through the archives for some much needed clean-up. Found this all fluffed up black-crowned night heron.

Hi everyone I look at this face and i see either the face of a monkey or a teenage boy with a trendy hairdo
Hello, everybody! Great images. Today I have another dog -- a Tibetan terrier named Bobby, with his hair cut VERY short. He usually moves so fast that even the shutter speed of 1/1000 is not enough. But this time I managed to catch him.
Happy New Year to everyone - shot this one a couple of days ago in the late afternoon on the shores of the St.Lawrence River in a frozen state. I am busy working on a personal web site so my time at PN is quite limited.
This shot was taken during my trip to Munnar (Western Ghats) in southern India. A herd of wild elephants blocked us in the road and we had to wait almost 2 hours for them to give way for us. Great fun ofcourse.
Flower buds? I found them growing in my backyard several months ago. Nikon D700 + nikon 105mm macro d.
For a while I had pre-visualized this shot: I wanted an early '60's looking black & white shot of the Seattle Monorail streaking into the night. Two weeks ago I went out with my N8008s on an evening of light rain. As I walked down 5th Avenue, I noticed the 1963 Mercury Comet sitting at the curb, and I knew I had my shot. I composed, and waited for the Monorail to arrive in the frame. I took 3 quick shots, and this is number 2. Nikon N8008s AIS Nikkor 85mm f/2. Ilford Delta 3200 iso shot at 3200. Yellow #8 filter.
Here's why I shelled out money I didn't have for a D300. Doesn't look like much of an excuse, I know, but it's shot at ISO 3200 -- which the old D40x could not do, bless its noble heart. This is a little still life from the shelf next to my desk, called MADONNA, DYLAN, REAGAN AND NIETZSCHE with SPALDEEN and ROWBOAT.
Senate square in Helsinki. There is a series of light installations in Helsinki called "the Season of Light" and this was one of them.
Ilkka, that is spectacular. It has a quality of Dickens-meets-Kubrick. The composition, the effects, the light and shadow, an amazing and great photograph.
Coming from a D70 and very happy with my D700 I did something funny and irrational and picked up a used D2H last week Am quite having fun shooting the city streets and even candid family portraits don't disappoint me. Compared to the D700 the images have a certain old school look that I quite like for some occasions.
Goldfinches fighting over rights to the feeder. Nikon D40X, Sigma 50-500mm F/4-6.3G (@500mm) F/6.3 @ 1/400s ISO 1600 Spent many hours over the holidays keeping warm and watching all kinds of small birds visiting our garden. This was a common sight among a growing flock of Goldfinches which have discovered the food laid out for them in our garden.
Resting hummingbird taken this past weekend (actually New Year's Day) with my non-obsolete D200. Loved the latest post regarding the D200s. It's still way better than I am.
Happy Wednesday all...Happy New Year...I know my entry is rather boring, but I am excited about it because it marks my first official (well, official in my book) photo with my lighting I have finally set up in a proper room dedicated to my photography.
My little guy turned 3 yesterday, and we have been thoroughly entertained by his Christmas Astronaut outfit.
Happy newyear! I hope 2011 will bring good health, prosperity and good light to all of us. Hail to all those that shoot black and white! What a great way to start the year looking at all the beautifull pictures here on WedNesDay. Beautifull landscape of Hackeberga, Skane, Sweden. Picture taken on 30th December last year.
Good morning Nikonians, For this one I just let the camera expose in A-mode at f/32 (to get the starburst effect), letting it deliberately underexpose. D90 with Tamron 17-50.
Happy 2011 everyone! I took this a couple of days ago on my morning walk. I kept wondering why grasshoppers were impaled on the barbs on this fence. I found out...Shrike birds are around and they do this to eat their victims (I've also seen a mouse impaled), but because grasshoppers have a toxin in them, they let them sit for a couple of days while the toxin breaks down before eating them. This little crab doesn't seem to mind the toxin. Nikon D90/Tamron 60mm@1/500, f/8, ISO 200. Stack of four images.
Greetings to all and Happy New Year. I am a newbie here, trying the learn PN's etiquette, so please bear with me. In the process of switching back to Nikon after a stint with Canon. Pulled up a shot I did some time ago of my daughter. D80, 50mm f/1.8, natural light + fill-flash. CJK
Happy New Year Everyone!!! Matt, thanks for all your efforts this past year. One of my New Year's resolutions is to learn how to focus stack. So, on Jan 2nd tried with this flower. Below is a combination of 6 photos stacked in photoshop. D300 60mm micro lens with 24 mm extension tube f/11 ISO 200 SB 600 and SB 900 off camera
RC at Miami Port. D200, Nikon 12-24 f4 @ 17mm, ISO 200, f10 1/750. Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season.
I am still sorting through my pictures of Colombia, which is an amazing place for travel photography. This shot taken of the Virgin Mary overlooking the Bridge of the West, a suspension bridge built in the late 1800's, just outside of Santa Fe De Antioquia.
My 1.5 year old niece being her usual self. Nikon D700 with 50 1.4 AFs, f 2.5, ISO1600, 1/125, natural light from the window behind. Processed in Lightroom, gently enhanced using Nik ColorEfex, Film simulation filter (Fuji Superia 100).
From a holiday trip to New York City. Happy New Year to all and thank you for the inspirational images posted here.
Good Day and Happy New Year to All, Already some great shots to start off the new year! Every morning when the diesel engine kicks on the John Deere tractor these two doe, who display a real curiosity, come running in to observe my doings. They often follow close by as I complete my chores and if anyone else appears they scamper off to safety. I guess we've bonded. This photo was snapped this morning as I went about my routine.
From a test roll through my Christmas present. Kinda funny asking for used stuff for Christmas but ohh well. Film was digitized using my cheapo scanner, aka. cardboard box, tin foil, Plexiglas, parchment paper, P&S and a manually triggered flash. Details: Nikon F5, 35mm F2 lens, Kodak Ultramax 400, 1/100 @F5

I wish a marvelous year to all. I see again some very nice Wednesday shots, and thx to the contributors. Here's mine...
Christopher Sperry, I like your photograph of the Seattle monorail very much. It has a classic feel and I like the diagonal lines. We traveled to Houston to spend time with family over New Year's Eve. One of the highlights was visiting the ArtCar Museum. This photo is of animals sculpted on the top of one of the cars.
Photo of swift moving creek over what I call the stairsteps after snow melt and thunderstorms on New Yea's Eve. Photo was taken 1-1-2011. Used Nikon 3100 with Sigma 18-200mm lens.
Another week of great shots. This was taken early this week as the sun rose through the fog D90 70-200mm F15 1/90 iso 400 @ 70mm with tripod
First photo updated was to large. Trying again. Photo of swift moving creek over what I call the stairsteps after snow melt and thunderstorms on New Year's Eve. Photo taken 1-1-11.
Happy New Year to everyone! Great shots again! Bought a "new" used macro, Tamron 90mm f/2.8 (72B), and tested how it works with 2xTC, giving 2:1 magnification.
I have been reading photo.net for some time and finally decided this is the year to start contributing, especially by challenging myself to come up with something new each week for this thread. So now to see if I can get an image posted! This is my son for his "formal" wrestling portrait.

Thank you Lisa E. I like your composition; good use of depth of field, and I like the way you "got in close" to the sculpture. Chris
Happy New Year to everyone. Here we are on Boxing day morning and my friend and pilot Moss does his preflights before we start up and climb into the wild blue yonder again. D700, iso 800, 1/125, f/18, 24mm
As ever, I'm having fun looking at what everyone is putting up today. At the moment I'm enjoying shooting with my new camera but couldn't resist playing around with some of the features.
I took this image with my Nikon D300 and Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 lens. This fella gotta a bit too close for comfort. I had to resort to hide behind my truck.
What a great forum here with fantastic photos! Santa was generous this year so I thought I'd get out of the shadows and post. Thanks for having a look and Happy New Year.
I had the good fortune to spend new years eve on board a boat in Sydney Harbour. The fireworks were fantastic, but I had to hand hold the camera. This is my favorite picture; despite the wobbles...
Here's a pic I took with the 10-24 at my father's village a couple of days ago. The sky was really inspiring, and it's a shame I didn't leave home for this walk a bit earlier. Taken as always with a D60.
Happy New Year to everyone. Here is my submission for this week. Thanks, Rj D5000 & 55-200 @200mm,f/5.6,1/320, ISO 400
I think this is the latest I've been. I went to a park to practice with my new 2x converter and found this wood stork. Great pics today. Nikon D3, Nikon 300 2.8 AFS, Nikon TC-20E111, 600mm, 1/1000 sec, F/14, ISO 800
Happy New Year. Taken night skiing last week. A little white balance work and sharpening in Capture NX2.
It's still Wednesday and I don't want to miss the first post of 2011. Taken at the Montreal High Light Festival on the last day of 2010.
Here's my first crack at posting. This photo is more of test run. My daughter goofing around with friends.
D200 • ISO 250 • Voigtlander 58/1.4 • ƒ/2.2 • 1/200th David: I love the composition, but the background feels distracting to me because of the sharpness. I would try maybe using NX2's lasso tool to sharpen up the foreground only.
Nikon Buddies, A beautiful start to the year. Some of my favorites are from Paul J, Roberta D, Doug S, Jamie M, Steve B, Bill N, efim p. My post is Disney's Lion King. That is, it's the male lion in Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Pink-necked Green Pigeon. This bird is quite tame. I managed to get to almost 15 feet to it before it flew away, but still couldn't get a uncluttered shot. Likes to hide between branches and leaves. D90+70300VR at 270mm f/5.6 1/250 ISO800
I have not yet processed any of the images taken in the last couple of weeks, so will commence my 2011 contributions next week. However I want to wish all of you an excellent, fulfilling year. As for this week's images, wonderful as usual. My faves are from Bogdan, Paula, Gej, Roberta, Bill, Karissa, Chris, and Miguel.
Javier, glad you like my photo, I follow Documentary WNW threads where you post frequently, for me those are some of the best photos you can see around here on p.net. B M Mills, thanks for mentioning my shot, your Dubai laborer is a great portrait and surely not easy to get. Great shots here as usual, excellent virtual tour around the world.
OOPS !! soffy missed to mention - it was with D70s .... don't have the technical details right now ...
WedNEsDAy PiC 2011 #01 My photo is a view of the Melbourne New Year fireworks display shot from the strand along the Williamstown waterfront. The city of Melbourne can be seen on the far right. This shot may create the impression that the fireworks are close to the ship, but they are literally a few miles away. The grey haze is the accumulation of fireworks smoke. Camera: Nikon D300 Lens: AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-200 mm f/2.8G ED VR II Settings: 150 mm, 1/25 sec, f/2.8 and ISO 2800 (Manual, hand held, UV filter)
Javier, Jamie and B M Mills, thank you for your time to look and comment ! Welcome to all first time posters. Happy New Year everyone.
This one was snatched driving home from the parents-in-law Christmas day 2010 during the unusually cold snap. I stopped the car in snowy conditions and left the wife and 2 sleeping kids and took this from the roadside within the 30seconds it takes before my wife gets impatient with my photography hobby I have her to thank for my camera though!
