Happy Wednesday, Nikonistas. Here in the US, it was a holiday weekend. I spent a pleasant day photographing one of my favorite subjects (bird dogs). This young pup was right in the middle of that sometimes-destructive teething period. But better a stick than a kitchen chair leg. Were you out with your Nikon gear this past week, working on something enjoyable? Share a photo!

00XEyF-277959584.jpg.4864ad3053588c6629c03975999285ba.jpg

This one-handed tackle by Jason Gram on Gary Ablett as he headed toward goal in the dying minutes of the last quarter of the second AFL Qualifying Final helped St Kilda 12.11 (83) defeat Geelong 11.13 (79). It rained heavily after half-time.

Happy Tuesday from Seattle!
Sweet shot, Matt...thanks for the start.

Very nice capture, Greg...I am always amazed and humbled by a good sports moment.

Jennifer...lovely shot and I hear you. Our oldest just went into 4th grade today...a little heartbreaking.

My contribution is from a recent shoot with a wonderfully easy young man...the parents brought the hat. The hat inspired the cards.

This shot taken at my local waterfront park in the city of Candiac. I was packing up to go home and the light was very low. I saw some ducks so I prepared my camera, increased ISO to 1250 and turned VR ON. Hope you like it.

00XEyd-277971584.jpg.9b130107e02bbd84d0168c640f73c606.jpg

Anyway, this is sort of my vision of what happens when the bridal party lapse into a coma from boring long slooow... formal sessions. This was a great group to work with and up for whatever the bride and I wanted.
I call this "Long boring wedding formals rest in peace!"
There are a few more images from this sequence on my blog that I think add to the theme, and yes they were done quickly.
Nikon D3 24-70mm at 24mm f6.3 1/3200 sec. while I ran around the group shooting from different angles.

Morning and Hi Nikonistas,
Many impressive images already. Looks like another bumper week!
I'm going Tigers again, just love these Animals and have some more stunning shots, this one the subject loose so content, it summed up how I felt at the time when I was watching...
Looking forward to seeing everybody's images.
D40X VR 55-200mm, 135mm @ F/5 @ 1/160s, ISO 200. Little bit of tweaking in View NX.

Good morning!

Thanks to Monika and P Watson for your kind comments on last week's bees - glad you also enjoyed them. Incidentally, my friend has now seen the print and assures me that we are seeing not a drone, but the QUEEN in that photo - look near the center of the shot for the bee with a very much larger dark blob on her back.

Recently I had an opportunity to go "behind the scenes" on a UK steam (heritage) railway. This is a candid shot of a signalman contemplating his frame, shortly after a period of sustained physical and mental effort, when two trains crossed just outside his box. A bit like photography, really...

00XEzv-278005584.jpg.84de8766e98b35dceaf83ab43c18eae1.jpg
