  1. Note: In the interests of balancing performance and quality, the topic of image file size and dimensions as normally posted to this recurring thread is under discussion elsewhere in the Nikon forum (the topic is obvious when you look) - please check in there and comment if you have thoughts to share! That's the best place to talk about that particular topic. For now, consider keeping uploads no larger than 1600 pixels on the long side when it matters, and sticking with 1000 pixels when the image feels no pain at that resolution. On data size/compression, try to keep things under 1mb, shooting for 600kb when you can stop there. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: For now, we're sticking with 1, 2, or 3 images per week as you see fit.

And still too busy to get the camera in front of me this week! Maybe I'll just start every Nikon Wednesday for all of 2022 with a Wayback Wednesday post. Or not, we'll see. But for now: some curb-side snow-meets-sun scenery from a storm a few years back. The ol' D600 and a 50/1.4, I believe. Show some photos!

These were two feral cats, brothers about 8 months old, who lived along a creek by our house. They now live in our spare bedroom.

Elk Grove has a program for feral cats. They are caught, taken to the city animal shelter where they are neutered, given rabies and feline distemper vaccinations, a flea treatment, their ear clipped to show they have been treated, and then released back to the colony. My wife and I take daily walks on a trail along the creek. These two use to come over to be petted. So...

  14. Outstanding informal portrait. You nailed it - the colors, the expression, and sharp focus. Excellent example of street photography.
