Well! A new year, Nikon people. Hope everyone's holidays were happy and peaceful. We rang in New Year's Day with a nice pile of greens and a perfectly sizzled pile of leftover tenderloin bits from an earlier feast. It was just the meal to break in one of the gifts we bought ourselves: a new skillet. Not just any, though. Love to support smaller US-based artisans and businesses, and very happy to report that Smithey Ironworks in South Carolina makes a fantastic cast iron pan. Not in this shot is the highly polished cooking surface that behaves wonderfully and cleans up with no fuss. If you're a cast iron pan person (you know who you are!) check out Smithey's two early products (10" and 12" pans) - I'm really impressed. Not affiliated, just happy!

Hope everyone's got some photos to share, whether or not cooking implements are involved. Let's see 'em!

00eInQ-567187784.thumb.jpg.ffd90972bdac9886e23d1f5be4d7e583.jpg

A short trip to the Santa Barbara Marina hoping for some photogenic could cover. During processing I felt the color was distracting and chose to do a B&W conversion.
