Second to last Nikon Wednesday of the year! But it's the holidays, so everyone's going to have lots to work with, I'm sure. Personally, I was documenting the fastest way to get myself on the Very Naughty list with Mrs. Claus ("Hey, honey, how about I shoot some quick video of you making gingerbread cookies?"). I'll have to come up with a different idea next year! But the cookies are delicious.

Take a few minutes out of the busy holiday schedule and share some photos. Looking forward to the week's visual treats, everyone.

00eHjX-566984484.thumb.jpg.85f43bb3edae9d41f8aa9c830c5d89c5.jpg

For those of you that remember, 2016 was a trying year for me. In July I went off on family vacation and came back to a very sick dog. My beloved Golden Retriever, Fenris, died on July 19th. When you're a dog owner, dog lover, you sometimes don't realize how much of your life is dog-centric. 90% of my photography was in some way related to that big golden furball. He himself was nicely photogenic, but the hours spent hiking and boating with him truly led me to some great shots. As well as heartbroken, I was suddenly without a motivation to go shooting.

Well, someplace up in Wisconsin (on July 18th, one day before Fenris died), a golden retriever bitch gave birth to 13 puppies. The stud dog was a black Labrador and two of the litter were black. I had owned a 1/2 Lab/Golden before, a wonderful, bright dog named Lupo, so I plunked down a deposit and spent the next 7 weeks waiting to take my new puppy home. It was hard, really hard, to find any motivation during those 7 long weeks. That all changed when we brought Bagheera home Labor Day Weekend. This guy was, and is, all a man could want in a dog. Bright, loving, playful, and 90% chickenshit. :) He's not the most confident dog in the world but we're working on that.

When I lost Fenris, many of you here offered condolences, and I want to again thank you for your kind words. Those kind words and a wonderful new puppy helped me through the dark time.

So, today's pictures are two-fold. One is of Fenris, taken around his first Christmas, and the second is of Bagheera just before his first Christmas.

Went to the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida, over the weekend, for an Ice sculpture show. They had the place at 9 degrees F. considering it was in the 80's on the outside, that was a drastic change, makes me applicate why I live in Florida. The sculptures were fantastic through.

00eHn2-566992284.jpg.1e6229bceb34eb34b993285b628dad75.jpg
