<p>A good nocturnal Nikon Wednesday, everyone. It pretty much always is, when these threads are started. In keeping with that, here's a quick skyline shot from just a couple of hours ago, peering out over the Capital Beltway as it winds its way through Northern Virginia, past a recent-vintage office building with exterior lighting that may have been imported from Las Vegas. Had that shutter open for 30 seconds recently? Share a photo or two!</p><div>00dKpE-557126684.jpg.fbd44104c471c91acb8b28fe28363b56.jpg</div>

<p>Dieter, love the smiley face on that boat lil'toot. Not quite nocturnal, but end of day near sunset, trying to get a few landings into the near sunset at London's busy Heathrow on Sunday evening, with all the obstacles that that entails. Enjoying the freedom of mobilty that the older mirror lenses allow. The slight vignetting is not the lens, but due to the tight opening of the fences and gate which I have to poke the lenses through, not always giving a totally clear view. Here's a sample of my efforts.</p>

<p>West Rutland Vermont, it turns out, is something of a Mecca for international scuptors, owing to its long history in the marble business. Nowadays many work in metal instead. There's a sculpture park, which I'd never even realized. Not too many people represented yet, but there's a huge scrap metal locomotive done by a Chinese artist that certainly catches the eye.</p><div>00dKrT-557134884.JPG.2d9a1193399c0bc1f0bbdc735728b025.JPG</div>

<p>Of course, country birds can be pretty stroppy too. I'm not sure what makes this one so angry. Perhaps it looks forward to a lifetime of criticism for eating with his mouth full and farting at the table, and having to say "but I <em>was </em>brought up in a barn!"</p><div>00dKrW-557135084.jpg.640808bfb22b6a8f539d24b05fb61920.jpg</div>
