A good Nikon Wednesday to all. Some great stuff last week! Haven't had much creative time in the ensuing week, but we have been wading through some product photography for web images. In this case, the subject was The Devil, in the form of polished convex sterling. Tricky to show those contours, some details, and to get 'er done quickly while juggling other tasks. Shot anything shiny? Share!

00cu7w-551973684.jpg.747eabe3ecdce91d99a0c930fcb2b28f.jpg

Hi all Fellow Nikon Shooters,
This last week one of my Dressage friends asked me to go to a show near our house to photograph her & her horse at a driving show. Very few people can drive their Dressage horses, but this is one talented lady & she sure has a hand with horses & training them. This was Jamie's, the horse, first Driving show & he was entered in three classes, one warm up & two of importance. He placed in his warm up class & won the two important classes. We were all very proud of him. He was a last second replacement for his injured older sister....
Looking forward to seeing everyone's photos.
All shot with the D800 & the 70-200 f/2.8 VR (the first version)

More infrared experiments. I think the bright slash of jagged light was early evening sun reflected off the wings or eyes of the bee that was browsing this wind-blown wildflower.

Someone asked in a recent thread elsewhere on PN: what makes a good photo? An answer that I agreed with was "one that turns out as I envisioned." I have finally experienced this phenomenon! Those that frequent the Nikon forum may recall that earlier this summer, I posted about having been asked to do a fall shoot for a fairly large family. It's my neighbors/friends, their 5 grown children all with SOs, three of whom have their own children, plus her parents. I thought "Oh - how am I going to do this??" I scouted around for places as the day drew near, and stumbled upon an oblong gazebo in a local park. Really! How perfect! How often do you see an oblong gazebo? I could see this family lined up in this gazebo, and I just knew it would be the place. All I had to do was hope for good weather...which I got! Overcast skies - for which I have never been more thankful!! I have no reflector and I have no experience (yet) with my sb700 so...here's what I got. I don't know how to put them all in one post so just know that my three all go together. I'm a little nervous about how they'll look here, since I sized them for posting...hopefully you'll get the idea.

00cu94-551979584.jpg.75bd2f5917feaf5516633c9e6864b5cd.jpg
