Brrr! A nasty cold snap the other night - with single-digit wind chills and some blowing freezy-stuff - meant it was a perfect evening for some indoor work on a couple of product shot projects. I keep the ol' D200 and some lights rigged up to use like a sketchpad when sifting through the beginnings of some ideas. Headed towards an image with a set of leather coasters (featuring iconic cattle brands), and I thought I'd show the equivalent of a sketch-on-a-napkin. Perhaps a Wednesday in the next few weeks, I'll show the finished version. I hope the bourbon I'm using in the shot's shot glass lasts that long.

Used your Nikon gear to rough out any ideas lately?
Chris Wick, thank you for mentioning my photo last week.

I'm posting early tonight to honor a friend and a prolific pelican photographer. :) I met up with Bill Boyd a couple of times last year, including one outing to photograph pelicans at White Rock Lake in Dallas. I called him a few weeks ago, and when I found out he was packing to move to Austin, I told him I had to meet him one more time. Bill is one of the nicest people I know, and I'm sure he will soon have lots of photography friends in Austin.

00a0nA-442197784.jpg.81a475694dceee875aa293bc78622de3.jpg

Greetings everyone. Mine is a winter scene in Longueuil Quebec. The attraction was the late afternoon light, the granular appearance of the snow and the brown shrubs in the distance. For what it is worth, I am dreaming about the D800.

00a0nt-442215684.jpg.ff7aafec740c35a7c532ef7e7ac09b45.jpg

Good Morning cold here this week so tried something different with a flower shot,my Idea was to make a photo look like a watercolour so blew the whites in raw to destroy detail and aggressively used noise reduction to the same end opened into elements and finished of there ending with a slight vignette kept me out of trouble for a while have a good week and good shooting
