  1. Important: please keep your image under 700 pixels on the longest side for in-line viewing, and please keep the FILE SIZE UNDER 300kb. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc).

Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here:http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00W7km. Our forum moderators are still allowing up to three images per week, so take advantage if you've got a story to tell!
Hello Nikonistas, and a good Wednesday to everyone. Just a quick out-the-kitchen-window shot this week. I was clacking away on the laptop, working next to the window, when this young Cooper's Hawk crashed into a large juniper bush. He was trying to score one of the dozens of local sparrows that use it as a safe house while working over the bird feeder's bounty. He came up empty, but no worse for the wear.

What's out your window, and do you keep your Nikon gear handy for when it gets interesting? Share a photo!

  15. [IMG]Good day to everyone and it is quite amazing the variety of images so far and i appreciate them all. Perhaps something is in the air because I have chosen to put up one that i took a little while back that is different to my usual submissions. It was raining and I was in the tropics and there was this floor fan with its protective cage and I decided to see how I could photograph it. My submission is one of many 'tries' of that floor fan.

  36. Wednesday greetings, everyone. Matt, nice Hawk shot. We have a Cooper's Hawk glide through from time to time, but I'm never fast enough! Here's a view from my reading room window as the moon set between tree branches in our back yard yesterday morning. It was quite hazy, but actually might have worked for the shot.

  49. This past Fall I took a trip to Yellowstone National Park, with the intention of shooting hand-held from the seat of my kayak. I purchased a used lens for the trip: an AFS Nikkor 18-55mm DX VR. With one hand on the paddle to keep my position in the current, it's a tricky lens to use with a polarizer, as the lens barrel rotates with focusing. The skies were dull grey from the extensive fires in the region, so I eliminated the sky from my shots. The Lewis River Channel and Lewis Lake are also home to a variety of birds. These photos are from the Lewis River Channel, a personal favorite place. Nikon D80, 18-55mm DX VR, polarizer.

  57. Great shots again this week. Keep up the good work!
This wasn't outside my window. I had to drive out to the preserve to find it. Our fall leaves are still here, although the recent storms have taken most away.

  59. Beautiful and interesting shots this week. I especially liked the border collie; you've captured the tension between wanting to please and wanting to get up and go. Mine this week are from a visit to the ocean on a calm day following a large storm. I was taken by the colors of the seaweed and the movement of the wavelets.

  63. Happy Wednesday everyone. Robert I love your shot from a kayak; just my kind of thing.
The other one that really stands out is Simon's atmospheric picture of Battersea Powerstation. It's always been an iconic landmark for me. I passed it twice today and will be going past it again tomorrow on my way in and out of London for meetings.
Here's a couple of monochrome efforts from me. Firstly the view from Ditchling Beacon, a local beauty spot on the South Downs........

Looks like a Bird fest brewing...so I'll chuck in one or two from the D80. Really impressed with this camera, much more user friendly than I had dared hope.
