  1. Important: please keep your image under 700 pixels on the longest side for in-line viewing, and please keep the FILE SIZE UNDER 300kb. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc).

Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: Our forum moderators are still allowing up to three images per week, so take advantage if you've got a story to tell!
A Happy Nikon Wednesday to everyone. I'm still going through the post work on last weekend's puppy portrait session. We shot it all on location in the breeder's living room, so it was mobile studio time. Here's one of the 6-week-old GSPs being pretty stoic about the whole thing. They didn't mind the lighting hardware at all.

The breeder sends a portrait home with each of her carefully chosen new owners, and it's been interesting to try different approaches to these shots over the years. I'll use this thread's 3-image allowance this week to include a couple of behind-the-scenes images from the evening's work. Got any how-it-was-done shots? Share!
  2. While my long-suffering wife wrestles with a puppy - with an audience of several more, in an ex-pen on the floor - I took a moment to step back, mount an ultra-wide lens, and record a set shot. It reminds me later how I had the lighting rigged up, just in case.
  3. In between posed subjects, I made a distraction of myself over in the whelping box. The pups found the camera to be endlessly fascinating.
  4. Greetings Nikonians, wherever you are in the world! I wish you all a great Wednesday. My contribution this week is a photo of Bill Clinton from 2001. I made a portrait of it and processed it yesterday. The pups are so adorable, Matt.
  5. Cute puppies, Matt. I don't have how-to to share, here is some shots I took over the weekend in Lost Maple State Park. Fall is late in Texas this year.
  6. At the beginning of West Loop Trail.
  7. Sony NEX 5n, Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8, ISO 3200
  8. Close to the end of the West Loop Trail. Color isn't the best this year, but it still attracts a lot of visitors.
  9. Matt, great puppies!
  10. I took the photo of this rather lunar landscape in the Ancient Brittlecone Pine Forest, the Patriarchs Grove, in the White Mountains, CA; elevation between 11,000 and 12,000 feet.
  11. Two beautiful sisters.
  12. Love the way the light falls on the stream, just a shame that I didn't get the little girl pin sharp in focus.

  17. All sorts of characters could be seen in the parade.
  18. It was a fun experience although it did rain a bit.
  19. Recently toured the Virginia State Capitol here in Richmond, this place has a long and interesting history and a novel approach to expansion by building new facilities underground to avoid adding new 'clutter' to this historic site. This shot with a D80 and nikon 18-70 then processed using Capture NX2 which i'm starting to really like.
  20. Good Wednesday morning all!
  21. Good morning to all. Great shots already. Wow, it would be difficult choosing one of those beautiful German Shorthair pups.
There are a few law offices in the small town of Ashland, Ohio where I live and while walking in town the other day I noticed this bronze bust of George Washington looking out of a second story window at one of the offices. I took the first photo from across the street. I walked across the street and stood just beneath the same window and took the second shot showing the reflection of the tree branches and wires from the utility poles making the bust look quite "ghostly" I thought.
  22. Sorry about the large photo. Let me reduce the size.

  27. Another engagement session, in the rain, close to Bucharest. I just love this savage place, with birds and a lot of water, fresh air...

    Full session here. Thank you!
  28. And the last one for this week. I found a homeless young dog...It's a she. It was cold weather outside and little rain. She was starving and...I take it home :) Now she have 4 weeks in our family.
I try to find name for her :-D For the moment I called Brownies, because of the brown color and she is like Flash. Now here, in a second there, in another two seconds is everywhere :)

I hope you like it :) Thank you for visiting my site , my portfolio and for your kind words!

    Have a lovely week!

  35. I was in Philadelphia, PA for the Thanksgiving Holiday and had a chance to shoot a few at night with long exposures. All shot with my Nikon D90.

  59. Matt, Nothing beats a Pup who knows how to pose! Great shot of a great Dog. Plenty more great shots this week. I've had to delve into the archive, too much life going on and not enough time to get busy with the camera. Here's The Barge, home from home.
