The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00W7km. Remember: only one image each week!A happy Nikon Wednesday to you all. We took the dogs out for a walk in the lifting morning fog today, and it was great to see the sun starting to show after a dank couple of days. Back into the comfort of the house, they found their favorite sun-spot on the carpet, and drowsed as only content dogs can. Here's our German Shorthair, and our Emergency Backup German Shorthair (I'm not saying which is which, because there would be big trouble). Anything nice and peaceful to depict with your Nikon gear? Share a photo!
Already, every shot here is fantastic! I shot this a while back (I hope I haven't posted it already), but I just found out this guy is retiring, after 40 years on the job. Enjoy, Captain!
My submission is in honor of my baby who turns 5 today. This photo was taken when she was a month old over the Bronx river.
Following a lead from a thread in the Off Topic forum, thought I would shoot my Copperhead, which I've carried for better than 35 yrs.
Hello, all. Haven't participated for a long time, and wanted to jump back in. Took this at a local mission garden. Specs under image show an ISO of 1600 because I forgot to reset it after coming out of the dark interior. I hate when I do that!
Took this flower shot at Alipur Zoo in Kolkata. Selected only the purple colour in LR3. Have a great Wednesday everyone!!
Good Morning Nikonistas, A late afternoon a couple of weekends ago...Local Haunt seeing what was going on...lots of show from the Whoopers. D40X (50-500mm F/4-6.3G) 500mm, F/8 @ 1/500s, ISO 400
This a recent winter scene located at the edge of the frozen St.lawrence river (Laprairie Quebec). The clarity slider CS5 RAW was used to increase the viewed details. The images so far are really super. Have a great day
A calm scene, but not a calm time - for during this session last week the camera electrics started behaving badly, and so it is now with Nikon.
Good morning to all and such Great shots this morning. They are such an inspiration to me. I can't wait to wake up on Wednesday morning just to be enlightened. My shot was taken yesterday after all our beautiful snow melted in the 56 degree warmth. Felt like Spring. A couple of old outbuildings on some property in Holmes county Ohio I call "The Test of Time".
Grevy's Zebra at the Detroit Zoo. This is the largest of the three zebra species. It's endangered—there are thought to be fewer than 1,000 left in the world. D300, 70-200 VRI @ 200mm, ISO 200, 1/640 @ f/4.
Greetings from the depths of northern Ontario. We think we have discovered a new species..... The Shirt Shark It is land dwelling and appears to be nocturnal. We know little about it other than that it has very sharp teeth and a bite radius about the same as that of a Corgi. They may travel in pairs.
this past weekend there was a big cheerleading competition here in town, so i went downtown to give my gear a workout. here's a sample...
Good morning everyone and Happy Wednesday! Here is a photo of a friend's little cat named Irma. Take care!
The tunnel between the United terminals at O'hare airport Chicago Just trying out my new Tokina 11-16
Nothing so peaceful as a bit of nostalgia; when trains ran on steam, nobody had a care in the world, and you could leave your luggage and bicycle unattended. Them were the days (what never was). Taken at a preserved steam railway a few months ago. Tech stuff: D700 + last time use for my Tokina 28-70 AT-X before being replaced. Toned in GIMP.
Hello All Last month in Vienna, near The Postal Museum (Postsparkasse) in Innere Stadt district Nikon D300 + 18-200 VR @ 18 mm ISO 640 - f 3.5 - 1/640
My contribution this week might not be nice and peaceful, but ... i is all in the eye of the beholder. Nikon D200, 70-200mm f/2.8 (I) VR + TC 14 E II.
Thanks to those who commented on my photo last week, much appreciated. Still having very warm weather for this time of year. Nice thing is, there are still some flowers in the garden. Was really blessed when this little lady bug showed up . D300 105mm macro f/14 1/160 ISO 800 Manual , Spot Metering SB900 Diffused
Wonderful photos as usual! Mine is far from peaceful for this Eastern Screech owl. I woke it up and it wasn't happy. I look like this on a lot of mornings. ;-) D7000, 70-300mm VR@1/160, f/5.6, ISO 400
So many good shots this week it hard to pick out favorites. Anyway: Chris Court - Great bird shot Hamish Gray - Great shot of the northern lights. Here is mine. Hope you like it. Nikon D700 + Nikon 70-200 vr I w/ 2x tele.
Good Morning All! Great images as usual this Wednesday. The hunting season is over here in northeast PA and the deer are again less leery and approachable.
Hello fellow Nikon friends, Here's a serene scene of the Hillsboro Inlet (FL) lighthouse I call "Guiding Lights". It was a very dark night and needed a 30 second exposure, which is cool for capturing planes that look like shooting stars. Great contributions today. Like the Northern Lights, which should be plentiful this week thanks to Mr Sun.
I'v been shooting 10 or 15 of these shots at weddings when posible, people really like them when I show them in my portfolio.
We held a photowalking activity at The Leonardo in downtown Salt Lake City. The Leonardo is a science and art museem and has a lot of interesting shapes and textures to photograph. My congtribution was of some art work hanging above the DNA exhibit on the second floor. I did remove hanging wires and some light fixtures in the background to give the hoops a feeling of being suspended in the air.
Crystal art by Liu Li Gallery on display at South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, California. Celebrating the Year of the Dragon.
Good Wednesday all. Took some shots at work last night so I would have something to post. View from inside a 5 axis Haas.
This thread is getting better and better each week, and it's getting hard to pick a favourite... Mine is a "hide the sun behind the lamp cheesy stuff" D90 with Tamron 17-50 f/2.8
Ahhh, yes, another Nikon Wednesday. Peace and serene? No, crystallized chicken broth. Bored, and nothing else to shoot.
Another oldie from me, this is the Ishtar Gate in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin - from Babylon originally.
The more I shoot film, the more I miss it. This was scanned at Fred Meyer and I did no photoshop work.
Happy Wednesday everyone! Fabulous pictures as always. I love these threads, so inspiring! My favorite three this week are all portraits: Richard a's girl ice-skating. Janne's snow portrait William's cheerleaders for their wonderful expressions Here's something similar from the wedding I photographed on Saturday. Aren't children great subjects
I love foggy mornings! Yesterday morning I just had to stop to get a shot of the Point of Rocks bridge over the Potomac River.
Got a chance last Sat. to photograph a pair of nesting eagles. Nikon D3x, Nikon 300 2.8, Nikon TC-20E III, 600mm, F/11, 320 sec, ISO 200
I caught this on my way home the other night. It's not too uncommon to see a Volvo Amazon around here, but the station wagons are pretty unusual. D200 • ISO 640 • Voigtländer 58/1.4 • ƒ/2.0 • 1/50th
Shot through a window of a cafe. The gentleman is wearing a similiar hat as the girl, but I cut it off in a hurry. Poor man!
I think Robert Capa said something like "if your pictures are 't good, you're not close enough". So practicing what he preached here is this pic with a D700 and a 17-35, 2.8 Also shout out to Bogdon, love the color in that. Every one above, there are so many nice pics here, thanx.
David Janson - nice close up. Look like brand new strings, on a very clean, but not brand new guitar. No such thing as a Taylor that does not sound good.
Rick Dohme - Thanks Rick. I have the ED AF version and I have noticed chromatic aberrations especially when using teleconverters. The problem is most evident with strongly backlit or high contrast images. I assumed the problem with my lens was that it was designed and built for film cameras and I am using it on digital bodies. Any thoughts? Doug
I love shooting children and have been doing so over 40 years using various Nikon models. I'm currently on a Nikon7000. My very first submission is of my grandson, a rabid University of Alabama football team which recently won the national BCS championship. His passion is caught in this photo.
Wow Doug I wish I was smart enough to answer that. I also have a 30 year old 300 2.8 Ed manual that weighs a ton. Still takes great pics though.
I entered a photo this week with too few pixtels. I would like to replace the entry with the attached which is the same as the one entered earlier. The information for the photo was attached to my first entry.
This won't happen again and I'm sorry for the mistakes. I do understand the 700 pixel limit and want you to replace my original entry with this photo
