james_lai
As the subject line says, Nikon View 6.2.7 doesn't work with XP SP3, at leastwith my D1H. My computer automatically updated itself to SP3, but afterinstalling SP3, Nikon Transfer can't connect to the camera and quits with amessage saying that there is no card in the camera. Uninstalling SP3 (from Addand Remove Programs) gets everything working again. The D1H connects via a firewire port. I don't know if cameras that connect viaUSB are affected. james_lai
I guess I've been living under a rock for the past several months. Looks like I'll have to upgrade to View NX.
elliot1
The latest version of View NX is actually quite nice. I don't think you will be disappointed.
don_cooper
My view ver. 6.2.7 works fine with SP3, however I don't bother with Nikon Transfer.
dan_spahn
I uninstalled SP3 after having Outlook problems.
JAPster
Try this. 1. Reinstall the Windows XP SP3 update. You need that. 2. Shutdown, power off, wait a minute, reboot, log back in as Admin. 3. UN-install you Nikon app. Completely. 4. Shutdown, power off, wait a minute, power on, reboot. 5. Log back in with Admin level account. 6. RE-install the Nikon app. Completely. 7. One more time. Shutdown, power off, wait a minute, power ON, reboot. 8. Log back in as your normal user account. 9. Test the Nikon app. It is not uncommon for some apps to have a problem after you have loaded a new Windows service pack. In these cases, completely uninstalling the app, and then reinstalling it may fix the problem. If this does NOT fix the problem, contact Nikon Tech Support and see what they say to do. james_lai
Thanks, Alan. I had thought about reinstalling View 6.2.7 in SP3 before I knew View NX had replaced it (the Nikon site doesn't mention that NX replaced 6.x, it just says there is no update for the PC version of View). I've downloaded View NX, Nikon Transfer (apparently it has been unbundled from View and is now a standalone product) and the D1 drivers. This weekend I'll delete 6.2.7, reinstall SP3, then install the new Nikon software. Then I'll be all up-to-date and state-of-the-art! Well, as up-to-date and state-of-the-art as someone who still shoots a D1H can be ;-)
james_lai
An update: No joy. With SP3 installed, the computer does not recognize the camera is attached. Tried a few different configurations, nothing worked. I've deleted SP3 (again!) and gone back to View 6.2.7.
ilkka_nissila
Why don't you use a card reader?
james_lai
I thought about that, but SP2 and 6.2.7 work just fine so I'll just leave well enough alone. According to Microsoft, SP3 doesn't really add anything anyways.
