david_h._hartman
Under "Contact US" then "Find Technical Support and Software Downloads" at NikonUSA.com.

Nikon Knowledge Database

This is a part of the Nikon USA website. If you register your Nikon USA product you may (or may not) be able to download an instruction manual for your Nikon product.

I tried to download a Nikon F5 manual without logging in and got one totally irrelevant hit. Looks like a subscription offer for Nikon World Magazine. Anyway this something new, at least new to me.

Regards,

Dave Hartman. john_carter_rhodes
Try the European version. It seems to have some different answers at least. :) http://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nikoneurope_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php John.

david_h._hartman
John,

Did you actually find a manual listed and download it? I did not find an instruction manual for an F5, F100 or N80. This time I was logged.

I have manuals downloaded from Nikon, UK. The post is just to help Nikon USA customers. I used the customer feed back from and got a generic and useless reply with the nastiest non-disclosure legal warning Ive seen from any Website. I once asked a question of Nikon, UK and do not recall any such warning. Maybe Ill try Nikon, UK again.

Unfortunately this points to what Ive said a number of times before. Nikon USA doesnt have a clue and operates with a policy of, "The Customer Is Always Wrong."

Ill check again but for now it appears that Nikon USA customers are better off dealing with Nikon, UK if they have a question to ask. Its very sad.

Thank you for your interest and suggestions.

Dave.
john_carter_rhodes
Yes. I got the F5 and FM3A user manuals off the site, though I was logged in as a UK user. The manuals didn't show up when I wasn't logged in. I assume given what I got that all the others are available. I sent you an email David, if you want to talk more about this this and ensure that we both get the replies. If you don't accept mails from here, I do, so please send me one from a working address. :) We can then post the verdict back here. John.
david_h._hartman
Like I thought, its a conspiracy! Nikon USA is conspiring to sell paper manuals because they are stuck in the 20th century and have their heads up well never mind.

Someone who has registered their Nikon USA camera body will have to see if they can download a manual.

I bought a second paper manual for my F5 and downloaded a PDF one long ago from Nikon, UK. I wish Nikon, UK would open an office in Los Angles and New York. Nikon USA has no class and not a clue as to how to deal with customers with minimum respect. Im quite sure the database used for Nikon, USA, CA and UK are all the same.

When I ran a processing business I didnt tell customers who brought me film purchased elsewhere, "You didnt buy your film from me, its illegal." I said, Thank You!" and gave them the best service I could. I expect the same from any business I patronize.

I must have been born on the wrong side of the pond. I dont throw trash out the car window at stop lights like so many Americans. My second cousin from Zurich, Switzerland came to visit. At Dodger stadium she saved her peanut shells and threw them in a trash receptacle on the way out. Are all Europeans this neat and tidy? I give up in the stadium but thats the way I think and act on the streets and freeways.

British Airways should bring back the Concord as a shipping transport and open service from Los Angeles to London.

OK, I guess thats enough foolishness. I was born in the mid-west learned to crawl and later walk in N.Y. and went west to California when I was knee high to a coyote. Im a Yankee and cant help it. I like the Pacific Southwest, sidewinders and all.

Best,

Dave Hartman.
