edward_dayoan
This is actually a question a friend of mine asked me which I could not answer. He wanted to get a flash cord so he could use his SB 24 speedlight off his camera. I have an SC-17 cord which I use with my SB 28. I suggested getting this cord, but he was wondering if there are any other similar cords, not neccessarily manufactured by Nikon, that he could consider getting . . . and are they any good? Thanks, Ed
ellis_vener_photography
There are some modified SC-17 cords , mostly either very long (like 20 ft.) or very short (like 2.5 to 3 feet) but otherwise no. The SC-17 cables are a bargain, I think my oldest and most heavily used one -- I have three--is at least ten years old.
scott_blair1
No, there isn't a cheap third party substitute.
todd peach seattle, washi
There used to be an Altrex Duo-Sync cord that would do the trick; my buddy Rick describes his in a thread on another board:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NikonAF/message/268
Perhaps there's a few of these still around....
