michael_kadillak13
Anyone know if it is possible to acquire replacement lenscaps for Nikon large format lenses? With Nikon taking a back seat approach of marketing their products in this country, I have no idea who to talk to to even ask the question. I just acquired a 450 mm M that came in new condition with some mispatched poorly fitting caps. My plan B is to get a set of Grimes caps, but sending a perfectly functioning new shutter and lens in for a set of caps without a CLA has me thinking about an alternative to get a set of the caps that came with the lens as a replacement. Thanks in advance.
brian_kennedy
I don't know who you'd talk to, either. I suppose you could start with someone like Jeff at Badger Graphic. FWIW, I now use a generic 67mm "snap on" cap on the front of my Nikkor 90/8 because the original front cap is pretty loose and always fell off when I was taking the lens out of my backpack. michael_briggs2
I suggest calling the Nikon service department in your country. In the US, either contact info or 1-800-NIKON-SV = 1-800-645-6678
doug_dolde
The Filter Connection http://www.2filter.com/ has Schneider as well as generic caps. Also try B&H, they have some slip on Nikon caps.
brian_ellis3
The only time I called Nikon USA for information about large format lenses the person I spoke with didn't know that Nikon made large format lens (actually she didn't know what a large format lens was). The nice thing about having Steve Grimes' company make the caps is that they will fit perfectly, snug enough to stay on but not so snug you need both hands to get them off. Costs a little more (I think mine were about $30 each) but they're very nice.
tom_perkins
Robin Kanta in Lompoc carries filters and lens caps. He's at www.photofilter.com, 805-735-3938. He will treat you good and turn it around fast. Good luck.
bob_finley
A couple of years ago I got original caps from B&H for a 300M. Don't know if they still have replacements available. All I needed was to have the lens type as they knew which size was needed.

jim_hornstein
I believe (as per specs on B&H's page) your lens comes with a 70mm slip on cap from the factory... B&H has equivalents or you can get that size from just about anywhere.
psychophoto
This thread may be of some use to you. I found the one Nikon cap through B&H, though I suspect you might be able to find them through someone like Calumet. It does seem rather absurd that these things are so hard to find.
