rick_gerbehy1
Will my old SB 24 work on a Nikon P7100? I am concerned that it may be too heavy for the flash mount. I went through a few SC 17 cords where the flash mount on the cord came loose when I used the SB24. Thanks in advance.
rodeo_joe1
If you already have the P7100, why not try it? However it seems to me that none of Nikon's current Coolpix Pxxx range of cameras will support non-i-TTL flash. They're either not fitted with a hotshoe or P-C socket at all, or don't have any manual flash setting option in the flash menu.

If you read the P7100 manual, the compatible Nikon flash units are listed on pp 81 & 227-228. The SB-24 isn't listed.

I was annoyed myself to find that my newly acquired Coolpix P100 wouldn't synchronise with any type of external flash. Nikon please note: You're not gaining any customers from this, and neither are Canon by disabling external flash compatibility on their so-called "professional" compact G11, 12 and X1.
