Nikon Lens wish list

  1. just a off the wall question with Christmas comeing what lens/lenes would would you be asking for? I would like
somthing like a 18- 70 constant apture zoom with something like f3-5 and not costing $1000+ simlar to the old e
    series lens.

  2. I would like a 35mm f1.8 AF-S DX for about $200.00.

  3. Nikon 80-400/F4 AF-S

  4. 28mm f1.4... all i want for christmas is a 28m f1.4, 28mm f1.4

  5. 180mm f2.8G AF-S VR or 200mm f4G AF-S VR Macro

  6. 80-200mm f4.

  7. Just bought a 150/2.8 Macro - since Nikon doesn't make one, I had to settle for the Sigma version.
Second the 80-400 AF-S VR - doubt it will be a constant f4 though (judging by the current price for the 200-400/4 such a lens would be north of $7k and weigh around 10 pounds). A 10-20/4 AF-S DX. A 16-70/4 DX AF-S VR. A 70-200/4 AF-S VR. The return of the 70-180 Micro in AF-S disguise and constant f4 aperture. A 400/4 AF-S VR that cost only around $3000. A 300-500/4 AF-S VR for the price of the current 200-400/4 and no additional weight. A 24-105/4 AF-S VR for FX.

  8. 18mm f2.8 AF-S DX

  9. 105mm f/2.5 ai or ais is what I would like :)

Will probably treat myself to it.

  10. You should have been at the camera show with me when I got a nice 105 2.5 Ai for $100. Nice lens on a D700.

  11. That would have been sweet. Nice deal!

I figure I will go with KEH bargain grade.

That is, unless I luck out on ebay.

  12. >> "Nikon 80-400/F4 AF-S"

If that's going to be f/4 all the way, it's going to cost a lot of $$$, probably more than the 200-400 f/4.

I would love a rather flawless version of the 70-200 2.8, the yet to be introduced telephoto counterpart to my 24-70 2.8.

Nikon probably should update all of their primes (plus the 80-400) with improved AF-S versions, and introduce several high
quality f/4 pro-grade zooms that cost less than their f/2.8 counterparts. The 300 f/4 and 180 f/2.8 need to have VR.

  13. Please, S:t Nikon, let me have a 200mm f4G AF-S VR Macro for Christmas! Or maybe a 400mm f5.6G AF-S VR that I could sling over my
shoulder while walking my dog, just in case something turns up.

  14. I'm saving my pennies for a D700 since I already have most of the lenses that I need.

  15. 50-150mm f/2.8 AF-S VR Nikkor

  16. My wishlist, all FX lenses:

    24-105/4 AF-S VR
    200/2.8 or 180/2.8 AF-S VR micro

then the fast primes, all AF-S and VR from the 85:
    15/2.8, 20/2.8, 28/1.4, 85/1.4, 300/4, 400/5.6

    last but not least:
125/2.5 Voigtlander APO macro available again with Nikon mount, but this may be another Santa to ask for...

  17. 85mm 1.8 and the 105 macro!

Since this is a wish list: I want a front spoiler and neon lights on my lens hood for the 24-70mm 2.8. A 10-500mm f1.4 zoom
that weighs 2 pounds. A polarizer filter that will magically fit on my 14-24mm f2.8. A dust eating fairy that constantly lives in my
camera closet and backpack. A uav like flash that can hover around my work area. And finally a one terabyte CF card.

    And world peace.

  18. just a off the wall question with Christmas comeing what lens/lenes would would you be asking for? I would like somthing like a 18- 70 constant apture zoom with something like f3-5 and not costing $1000+ simlar to the old e series lens. The closest you'd get fir that one is the "old" D70 kit lens. the only thing missing from your list there is constant aperture, but from 3.5 to 4.5 isn't bad. certainly for the price. Now if I'd be allowed to choose then here's what I'll be asking for this year:
    • AF-D 85mm F/1.8 - Just as good as the 1.4 and a lot more realistically priced (3 times the price for 2/3 of a stop faster)
    • Sigma 15-30mm F/3.5-4.5 EX DG ASPH -from wide to normal on DX or from ultra wide to plain wide on fx and film
    • Nikon 80-200 f2.8 af-D sharper than the current one and reasonably priced

  19. Nikkor 200mm-400mm...

  20. 16 or 17 or 18-55 f4

    70-200 f4

    both with VR.

  21. Nikon 80-400.

  22. A 70mm f2 AFS DX lens with the same basic optical formula/construction as the old AIS 105 f2.5. That would make a perfect portrait lens on a Nikon DX body.....I would stand in line for one....

  23. 24-105 f4 VR

    85mm 1.8 VR

    35mm f1.4

    24mm f2

    all Full Framers, all AF-S

I'd also like the new 50mm 1.4 but only if it's very good at 1.4 and f2. Otherwise, I'll stick with my 1.8.

  24. the 28mm f/2.8 AIS and a matching F3 : )

  25. One more wish for santa's elves would be a adaptor to make all lenes AF-s with little or no degregation in quality and no magnifaction that way all lenes could be used on all camera's at intended focal length

  26. 24-85/4 AF-S VR (short tele end to keep costs and size down and quality up).

    70-200/4 AF-S VR or 50-150/4 AF-S VR.

All this should be pro quality, like Canon's L series.

  27. A return to the old compact lenses Nikon did so well: the likes of the 20mm f4 recently discussed in other
    forum posts, the 45mm f2,8 pancake lens, a 70(80)- 200mm f4 (f4,5?) compact VR lens.

Not exclusively big brutes of 14-24mm caliber (handled one today- high quality but ridiculously huge!). Who
manages to shoot unobtrusively in a crowd with that one?? Seems Nikon plans to discontinue the 17-35mm
    f2,8- too small perhaps? :)

By the way, I managed to squeeze away a few shots with the new 50mm f1,4 lens on their loaner D700.
Enlarged shots viewed on the camera monitor seemed to show high sharpness in the center (only region I
    could reliably evaluate) at f1,4.

    Just my 5 cents

    Karl

  28. I'd be happy to get my 16-85VR back from Nikon warranty service.

    It's been over a month :-(

  29. 28/2 AF-S, 35/2 AF-S, 180/2.8 AF-S

70-200/2.8 redesign (I think this is very probable), or alternatively a 50-135/2.8 AF-S, which I think would please many DX
users as well as those wishing for a more compact FX setup.

  30. 70-200mm 2.8 for me!, :)- raf

  31. AF-S 85mm f1:1.4

  32. 85mm 1.8 or 18-70mm Kit Lens

  33. 105 Micro Nikkor
    and
    70-200 2.8 VR

  34. If this is a wish list for current product, then I'd put a 14-28 f/2.8 at the top.

If this is a wish list for new and improved product, then I'd want a new version of the 70-180 f/4.5 Micro, and an improved 80-400 VR - perhaps an AFS version.

  35. I'm with Shuo above. 300 f/4 AF-S *VR* and AFS for the 80-400 VR.

  36. This one:

    http://www.hartblei.eu/en/sr40if.htm

Of course, at $5400 I'd probably sell it and buy a D3

  37. 85mm f/1.4 :)

  38. How about a closer focusing version of the 70-200mm VR.............

  39. 85/1,8, outstanding on 1,5 crop cameras

  40. 400/4 AFS-VR

  41. I have asked for a 300mm f/4 AF-D, a Sigma 400mm f/5.6 APO, and a 85mm f/1.8, all used. I would be happy to get any one of the three in any of KEH's used conditions.

  42. 14-24/2.8

With my F100 or D700, this opens up a whole new world.

  43. 24 - 70 mm / 2.8 and 70 - 200 / 2.8

    But cheaper...

  44. Nikkor 10.5cm/f2.5 in Contax rangefinder mount. Then I will have all the lenses Nippon Kagaku made in Contax RF mount.

  45. 70-200mm f/2.8 VR and then 105mm f2.8Micro AF-S VR.

You did say wish........unless someone I know wins the lottery, I'll still be wishing for one of them for my birthday next summer. LOL.

  46. To be honest, a lot of the lenses in Nikon's current line-up are quite ancient, and they seem to be slow at coming up with useful new lens
designs and needed updates of old designs. In the aftermath of my recent quest to find a high quality and affordable telephoto, I find the
    idea of a 70-200 f/4 VR (for $800) and a 135 f/2.8 (for $300) quite tempting.

  47. For lenses that currently exist...

    105mm micro Nikkor VR

    500mm f4 AF-S VR

and I'll second the call for an AF-S version of the 80-400mm zoom, keeping it at a constant f4 would be even better:)

  48. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the obvious and only void in the Nikon lens line up: an 18-95mm f3.5-5.6 VR. Not to worry, I'm sure
Nikon has ALL of their engineers working on this pressing issue.

  49. Nikon 7.5mm f/5.6 Fisheye

  50. 24-300 f/2.8-4.0 ED N VR AS-F less than 3 pounds, internal zoom and focus, and ~15cm long. Finally costing less than
$3000 USD. Add front and rear bokeh control for extra bonus.

  51. This Christmas: 14-24/2.8, and next Christmas: 70-200/2.8

  52. For me,

The most wanted kind of lens beside an upgrade of AF primes over and including 35mm to the latest standard is a constant f/2 35-85mm or 35mm f/2.8 35-105mm AF-G - VR to get a true "maid of all works" daylight lens when you don't need to carry a lot of lenses in your bag and you need a fast transition from group to portrait without changing the lens (I'm talking full format FX body here).

If I need a 24 or 28mm (let alone a wider lens), I prefer a manual focus lens (thank you Zeiss) for using hyper-focus or scale focusing anyway and it is a very predictable event which allows enough time to change the lens. Not so when you need to detail the faces of each person in a group and get a group shot in short order. The now standard 24-70mm "trans-standard" zoom is too short for a true portrait and this is more bothering in practice to have to change a lens to get a true portrait focal length than to change a lens between a moderate wide angle and a very wide one.

  53. A 14-24 f 2.8 AFS if I could afford one or if it existed, a less expensive but equally corrected & sharp prime 20mm or 24
f2.8 AFS that could be used with filters.

  54. Professional grade 18-200 f/2.8-4 as a walk-around lens

  55. "50-150mm f/2.8 AF-S VR Nikkor"

    Hell YEah!!!

  56. AF-S 100-300 f/2.8 VR

Yep, the 70-200 but for FF.
