Nikon FM2N - Self timer lever stuck

<p>I have a Nikon FM2N that has seen very little use and has been in a cupboard for years.</p>

<p>On digging it out, I found that the self timer lever is stuck in the horizontal position (on) and can't be returned to the vertical (inactive) position.</p>

<p>The shutter still operates on all speeds. Mirror and shutter travel is OK.</p>

<p>I have tried depressing the shutter release pin on the body base, moving the timer lever with the shutter button depressed on "B" and every other thing I can think of - no result. The lever will not budge and I don't want to really force it.<br>

<br />Can anyone suggest a fix or is this a job for a tech?</p>

<p>Try to move the lever manually to vertical position. That starts ( at least in fe2 ) the timer and it resets after some seconds.<br>

The timer may be stuck or the spring is broken. In that case it is a repair job.</p>

<p>Thanks Kari, I have tried that. However, it feels like if I use more force, I may cause damage. Looks like it's a pro repair job.</p>

<p>2 more:<br>

nudge the lever counter clockwise first. then try to move it clockwise.<br>

press the lever pivot point towards the camera.<br>

If these will not work, then at least I will give up ;-)</p>
