Nikon FA grip

<p>Does anyone know if the Nikon FA could be purchased without the accessory grip that fits on the side of the camera front? I just acquired a near mint FA and it doesn't show any sign that a grip has ever been on it.<br>

The Pentax LX from that same period had a similar grip but you had to pay extra for it.</p>

 

<p>Does it have a rectangular indentation where the grip can fit in? It's supposed to be easy to remove but I think it was included by default.</p>

<p>It has the place for the grip to connect but there is no scuffing to suggest a grip was ever attached. It was a one owner camera. I guess I'll give the guy a call and see if he has it.</p>

<p>Do you mean the little "grip" that helps you hold on to the camera, or the "big grip" that also is a motor drive?</p>

<p>The FA always came with the little grip, the big one was an expensive option. But you have to remove the little grip to attach the big grip, so it's quite common for a used FA to not have the little grip. I sold mine with the big grip attached, and years later, the little grip turned up in one of my camera parts boxes. ;)</p>

<p>Guess I'll call the seller tomorrow and see if he still has the little grip somewhere.</p>

<p>The grip makes holding the camera a little easier but not much. The MD-15 is even better and with today's prices they're cheap. If your seller doesn't have one they show up on eBay.</p>
