mikeivnitsky
Hi! I got a nikon F3 which works ok part of the time, doesn't work at all sometimes (only the manual speed lever) and works like batteries are low some of the time (1/80 and down). I tried changing the batteries and it didn't help. The turn on\off button shows the red dot so it's on. Any suggestions.

david_legg
I had the same problem for ages, then I found out that there was a problem with using the single larger battery recommended for the F3. Use two button-size batteries, instead. (Sorry, I don't have the battery size numbers handy, but they are specified in the owner's manual.) Since I changed to using the two button batteries, I've never had the problem again. And, acutally, the button battries are a lot easier to find! Apparently Nikon had a service notice about this, but not many technicians were aware of it.
