dave schlick
im looking at a nikon f2 camera body and lenses. im trying to figure out the type of finder.. it has plus and minus type metering.. the plus and minus has about a 3 stop range total that would give too wide of exposure settings subject to poor photos.. will this give you enough info to tell me the type of finder and does this problem usually correct with new battery?? thanks dave... leslie_cheung
It seems to me you are looking for the dp12 aka F2AS. Its led is similar to the fm2 readout.

todd peach seattle, washi
You might be misinterpreting what you're seeing in the viewfinder. On my F2 Photomic (DP-1), correct exposure is indicated when the needle is centered in the 'notch'. As you say, the needle is responsive and 'swings' through about a three stop range, but correct exposure is much more narrowly indicated. By all means check out the MIR site for all you would ever want to know about the F2. They may even detail that finder's display; the Photomic is not a 'daily driver' for me as I prefer the F2AS.
