tadas
Hi, folks, I've googled for this, and asked on another forum, with onlygeneralized results. I have a Nikon F with a 68xxxx serial number. I want to use a PhotomicFtn head, and, as I found out, the Nikon nameplate needs to bemodified for the FTn to fit. I've gotten general responses along thelines of "file the nameplate until the meter fits", but I'm lookingfor something a little more detailed, such as a template, or picturesand measurements of what *exactly* I need to file off, the preciseshape, etc. Alternatively, can someone point me to someone who sells the correctnameplate cheaply? Cosmetics are *not* an issue. Thanks in advance,Tadas
Matthew Currie
Here is the front plate from one of my F's, a 69xxxx model made for FTn. I had thought that 68xxx would have this too, but yours may be right at the cusp. Anyway, I hope the scans help. Note that the filing is pretty slight, just taking off enough of the bottom corners so that the front hold-down clamps can close.<div></div>
doug herr
The sides of the name plate also need to be trimmed to allow the FTn's clamps to clear, and the light baffle on the body around the viewscreen might also need trimming on either side of the cut-out for the viewfinder eyepiece. Matthew Currie
I'm pretty sure that on a 68xxxx F, you won't have to trim anything but the nameplate. The other modification was done much earlier.
doug herr
Matthew you are probably correct. I had to modify the baffle on my '65 as well as the name plate.
