ggoodroe
So...My 4 month old D70s bit the dust a couple of weeks ago...blinking ERR... I sent it priority mail on March 13th, and they just got it fixed and ready to go to quality control yesterday. (it was a broken shutter) I probably won't get it back till this weekend or early next week. Is it typical for in warranty repairs to run 2 plus weeks? It seems like every repair thread I read in the last few months were 1 week or less turnarounds. Not complaining too much just curious. Cheers, George
chris m., central florida
That's actually very fast. Some people wait several weeks or even months to get their cameras back from certain manufacturer repair facilities. Nikon has greatly improved their repair turnaround time in the past two years for general consumers.
ShunCheung
I assume you are talking about Nikon USA repair. Unless you are an NPS member, who receive priority treatment, 2+ weeks is actually about right. After several years not having to deal with Nikon repair, last year my brand new SB-800 was defective and I dropped my camera bag and damaged the 17-55 DX inside. (I am sure you have heard of both cases several times. :-) ). Each time it took about two weeks to repair. See this thread as a proof :-). lex_jenkins
Two weeks seems reasonable. I sent my D2H to Nikon USA via USPS Priority Mail on a Friday (there's no FedEx or UPS within 30 minutes drive time of where I live). It was officially logged in the following Thursday. According to the online info it may need some major parts replacement, tho' there's no specific information. I'd rather they took a month to do it right than hurry it and have to do it again. I miss my D2H but I'm sleeping more comfortably now that it's not under my pillow.
fuzzybud
I dropped off my D-70 at Nikon in Melville for repair. It had BGLOB. Seven working days later I received a pickup card in the mail. They also up dated the firmware and cleaned the camera. There was no charge. I'm a happy camper. Brendan
SolaresLarrave
Be happy. Leica repairs (in the US plant) easily take one month. They warrant the job for a year, though... I know from experience.
