rolandwong
Hi, I was wondering have anyone tried using the Nikon D70 in bulb mode? When you open the shutter for minutes at ISO 100, is there any noise or hot pixels on the picture? Please kindly advise. Thanks.
Ed_Ingold
My D1x shows objectionable hot pixels in an exposure of 10 seconds or longer. I can't say if it is the same pixels each time, but it definitely is a problem for fireworks photography. Except for that, the D1x is much more linear than film in low light conditions. A CMOS/JMOS sensor may react differently than a CCD, but any electronic sensor is subject to thermal noise. CCDs are used in astronomy for exposures of several hours, but use liquid nitrogen for cooling.
nick_withers
There are long exposure pictures taken ob a D70 at hardwarezone.com, based on the cameras from Singapore, where they are apparently available to bu already. Heres the Link to the article: http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?id=1013&cid=15&pg=1 Nick
steve_bingham
You might want to consider the Fiji S2. It has the least noise of all the 6 meg cameras - including long exposures. See dpreview.com for detailed tests.
rolandwong
Hi, Thanks for all the replies. I've visited the website, and the samples are all round 10 - 30 secs. I'm just hoping that there's some samples with exposure that's around 2-4 mins or some feedback. Thanks.
