chris m., central florida
I'm running Nikon Capture 4.1 using Windows XP for my OS. About amonth ago, I started getting errors when trying to save any NEF RAWfile changes I make in Capture. It happens regardless if it's achange to one file, or batch changes to 100 files. My computer clocks for a moment, then works furiously for about twominutes, then a message pops up saying the RAW file was saved, immediately followed with a pop up box saying there was an error insaving the RAW file. No changes are saved. I've tried removing Capture from my system, and reloading. I've alsodisable DEP (included in service pack 2) Niether works. I'mbeginning to think this is an OS problem. Anyone dealt with anythinglike this before? Any suggestions?
akira
I'm afraid that I won't be able to give any idea to solve your problem. But I wonder why you are still using ver. 4.1? The current version is 4.4.0 and works great on my XP. Ver 4.2 had a problem of eating a lot of memory space but this has been addressed now and the 4.4.0 is very stable and has nice feature like compensation of chromatic aberration. Now that you are using ver, 4.1, then you can upgrade it to 4.4.0 for free.
cjfraser
Try upgrading to the latest version of Capture, 4.4. Note that you must first upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2, and then from 4.2 to 4.4. Both upgrades are free of charge.
EricM
Chris, have you thought about using another conveter? Capture is perhaps, no, it is, the worst piece of software I've ever used. You may have troubles getting it out of your os system after an uninstal, even their own registry cleaner doesn't work. The first time I loaded it on my first computer, all went well. When I got a laptop last year, it burried itslef in the bios and when windows tried to boot and start it up, it kept blue screening and shutting down thinking a thrid party (virus) was trying to load. It took all night to get it out of there and found the solution on sportshooters after hours of googling. Then I get my 64 bit box, oh never mind, it's horrible, I feel your pain. Can't believe they charge money for it.
