harry_harrington
Does anyone know if nikon have improved the collars on the 300mm f4. If not, does anyone konw if the kirk collars work for this lens possibly buying one in the near future but will use it 95 percent of the time on a tripod. Thanks for the help Harry. erik_loza
The only four letters you need to know: "K-I-R-K". Then, everything is fine.
WalterFlint
Ditto for the Kirk. Do your homework, but if your a tripod shooter the kirk is the only way to go. Forget about the Nikon collar, it is inadequate..
alex_lofquist
I imagine that you are referring to the new AF-S Nikkor. The earlier AIS AF 300 f/4 doesn't need the Kirk mount, but would benefit from the Kirk A-S adapter.
gone nomad
Why carry such a huge lens around? Nikon's 300mm f9 is so small and light. Takes 52mm filters to boot! Ooops just noticed... this is for that small format. Hey guys, just kidding. I don't own a 35mm camera so I really have nothing to contriubute. However, my 300mm f9 Nikkor is by far my favorite lens. yoni_perlmutter
what nearly everyone else has said: the kirk collar for the af-s 300/4. it works well and solves the the "jigglies". it's a scandal that nikon saw fit to put a totally inadequate collar onto such a wonderful lens.
