j._raabe
Niikhimproiect IR film - mentioned in Hicks' & Schulz' "The Black & White Handbook" - does it exist? It must have, yes? HIE keeps rising in price, and I'm not too into it anyway (although it does look great run through DR5 process).. So there's Konica, which I don't care for, Maco IR820c, which I just love, SFX, which is also great in my opinion, and HIE, which I've decided to abandon. But this Niikhimproiect thing, they say has sensitivity out to 1050 nm.. Interesting.. Google searches on the word yield NOTHING, and that book is THE ONLY PLACE I've ever seen mention of it. Anyone have any info?
john lehman, college alask
Try searching for "Russian infrared film" The best information in English seems to be at http://www.tech-db.ru/istc/db/projects.nsf/prjn/2275. Also some discussion of the "I've heard that someone said that it is rumored that ..." variety. Searching in Russian might be more productive, but I suspect that scientific contacts in Russia would be the best way to obtain it.
j._raabe
Thanks! Any information is better than none. Now at least I know what it is, where it's being researched..
