matthew_stanton2
I have read in some posts a few months back that there may be a greater risk of incurring scratches & damage whilst tray processing the new TXP emulsion which is apparently a bit soft. Now that the new emulsion has been out a little while does anyone have any further experience they would be able to share in regards to this? Thanks in advance. jerry_hyman2
Matthew, I checked with my local shops and Kodak yesterday to see if the new TXP was out and the locals didn't have it and Kodak said it was out but going slowly as the existing stock was being turned over. One estimate for availability was March so I just bought a box of 50 sheets of the older type. FWIW I have had no problems with the new TMAX in Jobo 2500 series tanks as long as I have followed Kodaks recommendations of using a hardner in the fix. I just have to use longer wash times in my Gravity Works washer. This of course would not help you if you were tray processing. -Jerry
dan_smith
Per a few fellow photogs who have used it & found the emulsion very delicate, they called The Yellow Godfather & were told to use hardening fixer & treat the film very gently during development to avoid scratches. david_goldfarb
B&H still seems to be selling old Tri-X in sheets. I got a box of 8x10" TXT about a week ago, and two of 4x5" about a month ago.
