alun
Hello All, I have finally got around to putting together a portfolio of recent street photographs from Birmingham (UK), taken over the past few years. Do take a look -- I hope you find something to enjoy: http://www.photo.net/photos/Alun best regards -- Alun

h._p.
As a colleague of mine remarked, when he saw my screensaver displaying street pics: "Random pictures of people in the street" :-)))<div></div>
nicolewhitephotography
Alun, I think that you have a great eye for detail with your street photos. How long have you been shooting for? Nic :-)
alun
Nick, Thanks a lot. I began photographing first as a teenager. Got a bit more serious -- but not very good -- in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Then there was a huge gap -- kids etc -- when I only looked at photographs. I suddenly -- and unexpectedly -- got re-bitten by the bug some three years or so back and began to try and teach myself to get better at street photography. Since then I have shot every week, sticking to a fairly narrow patch of Birmingham, my home town. I did this partly because it's convenient but also because it's familiar and in a sense I didn't want to be distracted by 'scenery' -- I wanted to get better and more confident at photographing people and street life. The quest continues.... Cheers -- Alun
alun
Nick -- The other thing I meant to say is that the past few years have also been a real learning curve in the other thing I previously neglected: edit, edit, edit. Gradually understanding that I am not trying to salvage the 'least bad' pictures, but trying to work out which are the very besy pictures I am capable of must sound painfully obvious, but in fact it cam as a kind of revelation. -- alun
