ShunCheung
Nikon typically revamps the Coolpix line once or twice a year. It is like clockwork that a bunch of new Coolpix cameras are announced shortly before the PMA every year. We can expect more before Photokina this coming fall.

ShunCheung
Traditioinally, Nikon uses the X suffix to designate a DSLR with essentially the same design but has a sensor with more pixels (i.e. higher pixel density), and Nikon uses S to indicate an incrementally improved design. For example, the D3X has 24MP instead of the D3's 12MP, while the D3S also has 12MP but has improved high-ISO capability and added video feature.

With that in mind, the D3X has essentially no impact on the D3/D3S' value. If Nikon ever introduces this hyperthetical "D700X" with a 24MP sensor inside a D700 body, I think it is merely wishful thinking that the D700 would get cheaper as a result.

As far as I know, Canon's 21MP 5D Mark II is selling quite well. Whether one really needs 20+MP or not, there is clearly demand for such a camera. We'll see how Nikon addresses that demand. I know there is the D3X, but @ $7K+, it is clearly not for everybody.
mark_drutz
I don't see a replacement for the discontinued P6000. When Canon replaced the G10 with the G11 I figured Nikon would upgrade the P6000.
paul_b.1
The introduction of 700Ds is iminent. At the most important on-line store in my country the "old" 700D is out of stock and aviable only with special preorder.
