sergio_ortega7
Saw a new Arca Swiss on the Photomark web site. Check out Rod Klukas' description: http://www.viewcameras.blogspot.com/ Also saw some info on the Large Format Photography forum, with links to some French reviews and the Photokina preview. Not a 4x5, but still interesting...
._._z
That was a post from <b><u>seven months ago</u></b> claiming <i>"deliveries of the R-Line may be just a few weeks away."</i>
aplumpton
Sergio, it certainly looks fine (and no doubt a very precise instrument) and will challenge the Apla, but it is no rangefinder, but rather a scale focussing viewfinder camera. I presume you will need to use the groundglass for focussing and composition (rise and fall or shift functions), but might find an shoe mount rangefinder attachment useful for general photography. How much are they asking for the body and viewer?
sergio_ortega7
Arthur, I have no idea what the price will be. It will probably be expensive. The only place I've seen this new Arca Swiss advertised so far (in the US) is on the Photomark site. Here's a link to their page, apparently it's not on sale yet. As Z mentions, it was discussed months ago, but has yet to make it to market. http://www.photomark.com/arca_swiss_rangefinder.php I came across the Arca Swiss while researching some other handheld 4x5 LF designs, particularly the Cambo SW. This new A/S seems to be more along the lines of the Alpa, but with a few more features and capabilities. Had not seen it discussed here, so I thought I'd post the description and see if anyone else had any info.
