Need suggestions for a small camera for good macro.

My wife has an eBay business for which she needs to take lots of crisp, clear photos of jewelry. She dislikes large cameras (like the ones of mine I have offered her) and has managed to get along with two pocket cameras! I know, how is that possible? Her photos are among the best in her eBay category. But now her second camera, a Nikon pocket model, has become inconsistent so I'm trying to find her something new. What she needs in a camera: Its ability to capture sharp, bright photos of jewelry. She has the mini-studio set up with good lighting, so now it's all about the camera. I've tried to offer her all of the usual setups, with the camera on a mini-tripod, a remote shutter release, etc. She wants to do it her way, hand-holding her small camera and really, it has worked well for her until the camera starts to lose it. I'm guessing she'd go for something bigger than a pocket camera (if's good enough, but not much bigger. An older top-of-the-line model I can find used would be better than a new one of lesser quality.

Any suggestions are welcome! Macro/closeup is key.
