billballardphotography
Hi all - I need some referrals for a point and shoot digital camera for my "day" job. My work involves a lot of documentary type photography for insurance claim investigations. I've been using my Digi Rebel, but it's just too large, cumbersome, and slow to rely upon anymore. This is for combined everyday job/personal use. When things get serious, I can still go to one of my DSLR's. Critical features I'm looking for are: Moderate wide/zoom capability - 35-105 for example - can be "digital zoom" Macro ability 6-8 megapixel Small, compact size I appreciate any recommendations! Thanks!
tjod
I recently bought a Canon PowerShot SD1000 that fits at least the needs you stated. I'm pleased with the results for an under-$200 camera. It fills in when I don't have the time or inclination to carry the DSLR
davek57
If you find a Canon Powershot A630, you'll get the benefit of a larger sensor and the swiveling LCD, which tends to help when making macro shots. OfficeMax had one this week for $199.
albert_smith
OfficeMax had one this week for $199.
I second this recommendation. That $199 gets you the A630 bundled with a Canon 4 X 6 Printer. Not bad for a Camera (alone) that cost $349 upon release.
I am very satisfide with my A630, and am seriously thinking about getting another (at that sale price) just to have incase mine fails. billballardphotography
Thanks for the replies - Given the fact I needed this camera immediately (job use) and that my local OfficeMax, Office Depot, and the like were issuing rain checks for the A360 deal, I opted for the Canon SD1000 at Best Buy - on sale, and few 'small" goodies negotiated in... ;) Thanks again -
