Quite happy with it so far and its AF speed is quite good, although probably not quite in the same league as the 400mm/f2.8 and 600mm/f4. AF speed and the small size are the major improvements over the 200-500mm/f5.6, but one clear disadvantage is that you cannot zoom back.
