This is the additional weekly image thread for the Nature Forum. While images posted to this thread should still be nature in theme, it may contain a small amount of human-made objects and therefore less restricted than the Monday in Nature threads. Please see this discussion for more details: Alternative weekly thread in Nature forum

Each participant please post no more than just one image per weekly thread.

This week's first post is a fossil dinosaur track discovered alongside a lonesome highway in south-central Utah. There are a number of these in the area, including one in the roof of a coal mine tunnel.

Beautiful detail and very pleasing colors.

Would you please post some of the technical details - lens, camera, exposure, etc. Disposition of the critter?

Pentax K20d, Sigma 105mm macro lens,1/180 second, 100 ISO, f11, on camera flash, hand-held, very minor trimming and sharpening of image in PP.

According to Collins, a 'Heart and Dart' moth, named after markings on wings, about 2cm long, Habitat : Downland and dunes (so why on a desk in Norwich ?).

Disposition ? Seemed friendly enough, wasn't worried by flash (this image was part of a series), flew off towards the room light after a few minutes.
