tom_grosch
I see Nikon has come out with a new camera called COOLPIX.. Asked Nikon what that name indicates and was told itrefers to a 'point and shoot' camera. Notice there are many other 'point and shoot' cameras made by Nikon. How come they too are not Coolpix? Sincerely, tgrosch@cox.net
leicaglow
I think you may be mistaken. I've owned a Coolpix for many years. A 2500 that's roughly 2Mp. To my knowledge, all P&S from Nikon are called Coolpix. http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Digital-Camera/index.page
richard_cochran
Many of them are. Take a look at Nikon's coolpix press releases and see if you can count all the coolpix models. jautey
Coolpix is simply a Nikon camera series, specifically a compact non slr point and shoot digital camera. It, as a series, has been around for about 10 years and is by no means new. As I view the Nikon website, it seems all their small point and shoots are called Coolpix and I can't find any indication of cameras of the class, manufactured by Nikon, called something else. Could you please list some examples.
