N80 Auto Flash Pop up Question

What Mike said. On the dial on the top of the camera, lower Nikon models (i.e. the N75) have a regular Program mode and a green dial setting that is an ultra-idiot-proof Program mode. In the green mode the flash pops up automatically in low light.

The N80 is high enough in the Nikon line that Nikon expects the user to know when to use flash. As such, the N80 lacks the green ultra-idiot-proof Program mode and you'll have to pop the flash up on your own.

Babak-

The N80 autofocus-assistlamp will not turn on if the ambient lighting is too bright. If you can read a newspaper, the light is too bright for the assist lamp to be needed. Do your testing in a moderately dark place.

Also, the N80's autofocus-assist lamp will not light, if the M/S/C switch on the front of the camera is set to M for manual focus, even though an autofocus lens is mounted on the camera.

Also, the N80's autofocus-assist lamp will not light if a manual focus lens is mounted on the camera, regardless of the setting of the M/S/C-switch.
