My Computer won't read my new CF Card

  1. I know there are RAW pictures on the card (a 1 GB SanDisk Ultra II
CF), but my computer tells me that there are no pictures. I can see
them on my LCD, and Canon's Viewer Utility 1.2 can bring up a
preview of them but cannot open them.

I have had trouble with the card since I got it (about a month ago),
but this is the first time that I cannot find any way to get the
pictures off the card (other times I have accessed them via My
Computer and simply copied the files into my computer).

Is the card defective (and has it been from the beginning)? Is this
something that SanDisk's "Lifetime Warranty" should take care of?

    Thanks for any ideas.
  2. By the way, my wife's 512mb Ultra II CF card works fine.
  3. You are using a card reader, aren't you? If not, that's a starting point. Then use Windows Explorer to poke around. The images may be in a directory not immediately recognized by the Canon utility. You can quickly see how much memory is left on the card - in camera or using Explorer - and infer whether there is significant image content. If you find them, copy them to a named directory on your hard drive (copy and paste, or click and drag).
